Ellen Bailey was the founder of the Friends of The Pasadena Playhouse. She was a part of the theatre's history as a student, teacher and director for the Playhouse’s College of Theater Arts in the 1940s, ’50s and ’60s.
In 1979, she established a team of volunteers to maintain The Playhouse archives. As a staff member, tour coordinator, docent, and volunteer archivist, she kept the theatre’s history alive as well as the passion for the performing arts in the community. In December 2013, the Friends, Alumni, Playhouse Staff, and Board celebrated Ellen's 90th birthday. To honor her outstanding work and dedication to The Pasadena Playhouse, the Archives Department was named the Ellen Bailey Archives. |
